Marytown Prison Ministry focuses on four key areas to evangelize inmates:
Communication
Correspond with inmates and chaplains and supply them with spiritual resources. Raise awareness among clergy, consecrated religious and laity of the needs of the incarcerated population – currently one in every 110 Americans – who are cut off from Christian fellowship and the sacraments.
Evangelization
We reach out to all incarcerated -- fallen away Catholics, lukewarm Christians, or those with no faith -- and respond with pastoral guidance and encouragement in correspondence and inspirational resources on the Catholic Faith, St. Maximilian Kolbe and MI consecration. We also offer Bibles – in English and/or Spanish – for prison chaplains to distribute to the inmates.
Prayer
We ask the inmates to pray with us for our intentions, and invite them to send us their prayer requests. We gather in the Marytown chapel Monday-Friday at 3:00 p.m. to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and invite the inmates and their families -- wherever they are-- to pray with us at that time as we offer our Thanksgiving and make our petitions before Our Eucharistic Lord.
The Future
Always dependent on God’s grace and guidance, we hope to continue to grow our outreach, harvesting many more souls for Him. We’re looking forward to the possibility of team visits to local correctional facilities, a monthly newsletter providing up to date information on Catholic news globally, and Rite of Christian Initiation programs for those inmates who want to enter or return to the Church.
