The National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe at Marytown announces the Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, IL, will be honored with the 2018 Kolbe Award on Saturday, August 11 at the shrine in Libertyville, Illinois.

The Kolbe Award is given in recognition of those who mirror St. Maximilian Kolbe’s charisms of heroic charity and self-sacrifice. As a diocesan priest and throughout his episcopate, Bishop Paprocki has heralded his devotion to Our Lady. His evangelization, faithfulness to the Church and service to God’s people mirror those of St. Maximilian Kolbe. This year it is fitting that we recognize Bishop Thomas John Paprocki.
