TESTIMONIALS
From a Former Volunteer:
"Being a Marytown volunteer was the highlight of my last few months, and the bright spot in my week. You, the Friars, and workers made me feel welcome, and fostered a deeper connection to God. What little I knew of the residents and employees was a true inspiration to me. The selflessness, sacrifice, honor, and joy that I saw is something I will remember for life. I also learned a much deeper respect and humility for the countless people who visit Marytown. Just replacing the candles gave me an small insight into their prayers, pain, and joys. I would like to stay in touch, as I'd like to return after my retirement. And if you need me, please call me. I'd be happy to help if you need me in a pinch. Or on a weekend. This isn't a goodbye. It’s a thank you for the opportunity to help.
God Bless you all, and I hope to see you all soon."
From a Current Volunteer:
"When I retired from my office job (10 years ago) I felt I needed something to do to fill the void in my life. What better place to volunteer than Marytown. Working there has been emotionally and spiritually fulfilling for me. Everything you do is greatly appreciated by the Brothers and Priests alike. Some of the people who visit the chapel have questions and I am only too happy to answer them. One in particular stays with me. A lady who was troubled was kneeling in church and crying. She saw me and said she needed to see a priest. I immediately went into the reception area and found Father Edmund who asked me to bring her in there. He helped her out and this whole experience made me feel good. This is what it’s all about. Being there and helping out. I began working one morning a week and after a year I added another morning. I always say – When You Work For God, It Doesn’t Get Any Better."
